Contact Lenses

Contact lenses offer a sense of freedom and a wider field of vision to glasses. They are a great choice for sports and leisure activities. There are many types and brands of contact lenses available today and as part of your Contact Lens First Consultation the Optometrist will discuss these with you.

Contact lens types

Daily disposables

Wear them for a day and throw them away!

This type of lens is the most convenient as there is no cleaning and no need for solutions. They are a great lens type for busy people, occasional wearers and if you suffer with eye allergies.

2-weekly

Wear them every day for 2 weeks. This type of contact lens requires daily cleaning and storage overnight with the recommended solution.

They are better value than dailies and offer a more frequent replacement to monthlies.

Monthlies

Can be worn every day for a month. They are similar to 2-weekly lenses as they are worn daily, then cleaned and stored overnight.

This type of lens can be the best value for money.

You can also have Toric lenses that correct astigmatism and Multifocal contact lenses if you wear varifocals for presbyopia and coloured contact lenses are available for certain prescriptions if you want a new look!

What to expect

The Optometrist will check the health of the front of your eyes and take some measurements before helping you to choose a suitable contact lens type to try. A teaching session and 2-week supply of trial of contact lenses is included.

Contact Lens Aftercare appointments are an important part of your on-going contact lens eye care. We will remind you when you are due to be seen and the Optometrist will check that your contact lenses are still working well for you.
